easter confession
I love Jesus. I don't believe he ever existed, but I love him anyway.
"We are a small and lonely human race/ Showing no sign of mastering solitude/ Out on this stony planet that we farm./ The most that we can do for one another/ Is let our blunders and our blind mischances/ Argue a certain brusque abrupt compassion./ We might as well be truthful.../" From "Stepping Backward" -- a poem by Adrienne Rich

He's real because you love him, whether he ever existed or not.
My daughter had a big old crush on him when she was 8.
:) I ended up having "Jesus loves me" stuck in my head for about a month there - kind of droll for a very atheist household. I turned it into "Eden loves me" (my daughter's name).
Crap. It's back in my head. Argh!
