I thought *I* was the first to come up with the idea to make whips out of rubber from old bike tires. I did it back in '01 when I first moved to town. But NOOOOOOOOOO, Michelle Tea beat me to it. There it is on page 89 of Valencia, "And we couldn't smack each other or play around with the recycled bicycle tire whip..." Published in 2000, goddammit. She beat me out by one year.

Oh well.
