songwriter

Took a walk to the library a bit ago to pick up some things waiting for me on hold. Now, I'm sitting at my desk feeling a little melancholy, listening to Carole King, who is gorgeous and brilliant. Live at Carnegie Hall in 1971. Amazing to hear her voice change through the course of the show -- at first unbridled and wavering almost out of control, then wearing to a smoother space until it gets almost gravelly and sexy-scratchy at the end. Wonderful. The only bummer -- this CD is scratched on the last track -- so I only get to hear about half of what would otherwise be an *awesome* rendering of "Natural Woman." Damn.
